'I loved the self check-in – the instructions were easy to understand. I travel a lot around the UK and the host was the most attentive I've ever experienced, their attention to detail was impeccable. Sharing locations of shops, attractions, places to visit, history and knowledge of the area and the farm they live on. The apartment was absolutely spotless and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. My children absolutely loved waking up to cows at the foot of the staircase and the smell of the fresh crisp air. The host welcomed us with two bottles of original Irn Bru which was a thoughtful gesture. They also provided an umbrella which came in handy. I would most definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to family and friends.'

Light and bright, full of quirky touches but everything works and all you need you will find. Beds high quality, bed linen crisp. Good lighting everywhere. Bathroom perfect. Ella is a delight – charming, helpful, thoughtful and nothing too much trouble. Despite the poor weather, we had the best of times. Highly recommended.'

It was spotlessly clean, comfortable, and full of character with stunning views. We especially appreciated the thoughtful touches, which made it feel welcoming and homely. The location was ideal for us as it is a handy and short distance from Lochside House Hotel. Communication with Ella was smooth and friendly, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. 'The apartment is very lovingly, comfortably and warmly furnished. It has everything you need and even a little more. The location is perfect for enjoying absolute peace and quiet. Apart from the occasional tractor, birds, and now and then cows, all you hear is silence. The view is magnificent and there are plenty of worthwhile sights in the surrounding area. The sea and beautiful beaches are also just a short drive away. The owners are very nice and helpful without being intrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the resulting slower pace of life. Beside an old railway station the apartment reflected the local history from the prints, to the charming clock and the books about local history and trains. 'We had a wonderful three-night stay at the Whistlestop while attending a friend’s wedding. Our host met us on arrival and gave us a very warm, friendly welcome, which made us feel at home straight away. She also came to say goodbye before we left, which was a lovely touch, and it was great chatting with her again. The accommodation was clean, cosy, and had everything we needed. We especially loved looking through the interesting books and photos about the history of the building – it added so much character to our stay. The location is beautifully secluded and peaceful, and the balcony offers stunning views across the surrounding countryside. It was exactly what we were looking for and the perfect place to stay for the wedding (Boswell house). There was parking, and the facilities were excellent throughout our stay. We wouldn’t hesitate to return and would happily recommend the Whistlestop to others. Thank you so much for a fantastic stay – we’ll definitely be back!'
'Was looking for somewhere to stay for a family funeral and to my surprise this gem popped up. Available and very nostalgic for me as it used to be in the family in the 70's/80's. Hosts were brilliant and nothing too much trouble. Checked in on time stated, great communication and instructions... Wow, what can I say enough space for the two of us. Lovely and warm, no complaints. Restaurants in driving distance and easily able to use kitchen. Fridge for extra supplies. Would 100% stay again. Lovely views across the farmland and further out. A little too chilly to sit out on the balcony at night but very, very peaceful. Was lovely to see what had been done to the old place. Whether for a few days or longer to explore Ayrshire I would recommend. Amazing job Ella.'
'We spent a night at the Whistlestop as a place to rest before and after going to the Ayr show and it was absolutely perfect. 20 minutes outside Ayr centre but feels like a private cosy little countryside bubble with peace, quiet and views for miles. Ella has truly thought of everything a guest could want and need in setting up the accommodation, with lovely wee touches in the decor that really make you feel at home. The chic kitchenette is well set up for cooking all your meals, which I would recommend eating out on the balcony (accompanied by a glass of whiskey from the side bar, obviously!) to really make it an experience to remember. My son was such a fan of waking up and chatting to the cows in the field nearby. For families, couples or a solo trip, I would recommend the Whistlestop – we will definitely be back!'
